Obituary of Mary Margaret Stipp

Bedford – Mary Margaret Stipp, 93, of Bedford, passed away at 9:15 pm, on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Majestic Care in Bedford. Born November 20, 1930, in Bedford, she was the daughter of John H. and Elizabeth J. (Bueter) Fox. She married Robert G. Stipp on September 29, 1951, and he preceded her in death on March 23, 1998. She was a graduate of Bedford High School with the class of 1948 and had been the society editor for the Bedford Times-Mail. She was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, a consultant for the Lawrence County Historical Society for the Bedford square and Zahn Historic District, a member of Indiana Landmarks, Lawrence County Historic Preservation, and a historical consultant for the Green Hill Cemetery. Survivors include her children, Robert G. Stipp, II, and wife, Diane S., and Claudia A. Bennett, all of Bedford and John K. Stipp and wife, Donyel Byrd, of Bloomington; six grandchildren, Eric Bennett and companion, Natalie Whan, Thomas Bennett and companion, Miranda Gerth, all of Bedford, Bridget Davis and husband, Nathan, of Brownsburg, Ian Byrd, of Syracuse, IN, Taylor Byrd, of Tucson, AZ, Kevin Stipp and wife, Carmen, of Indianapolis; four great-grandchildren, Madelyne and Carter Bennett, Baker and Goldie Davis, and Audrey Stipp. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son-in-law, Jim Bennett. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, December 11th at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father Jegan Peter officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, December 10th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
