Obituary of Janet Suzanne Atkins

Bedford- Janet “Jan” Suzanne (Curry) Atkins, 72 of Owensburg passed away on August 13, 2021 at 1:40 at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Bedford. Born on May 9, 1949 in Indianapolis, Jan was the only daughter to Gene and Maxine Curry. She married her high school sweetheart, David Atkins on July 19, 1969 and he survives. Other survivors are her daughter, Sally Miller, son-in-law Jeff Miller, and grandsons Collin and Dillon Miller all from Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her parents. Before her retirement in 2015 Jan worked as a legal secretary for over 40 years for lawyers in Greene and Lawrence Counties. She was a faithful member of the Owensburg Baptist Church where she served as a pianist and choir member for many years. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 18th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Jay Collins Officiating. Burial will follow in the Owensburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17th and from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service Wednesday, all at Day & Carter Mortuary. Memorial contributions can be made to Owensburg Baptist Church.
