Obituary of Charles Ely

Oolitic – Charles Ely, 88, of Oolitic, died at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at his residence.

Born August 10, 1931 in Harlan, KY, he was the son of Isom and Martha (Napier) Ely. He married Lois Yeary on September 7, 1951 and she survives. He was a master truck driver and farmer. He was a member of the Laborers and Hod Carriers Union #741. He was an avid lover of horse pulls, fairs, farming, and raising cattle.

Survivors include his wife, Lois, of Oolitic; a daughter, Charlene and husband, Jim, of Martinsville. He was preceded in death by his parents and twelve brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 16^th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Lewis Seward and Ron Hamrick officiating. Entombment will follow in Cresthaven Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, November 15^th and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday, November 16^th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
