Obituary of John R. Freeman

Bedford – John R. Freeman, 95, of Bedford died at 5:05 pm on March 23, 2019 at his residence.

Born January 1, 1924 in Williams, he was the son of Ellis and Mary (Chapman) Freeman.  He married Barbara A. Pinnick in 1950 and she survives.  John was a Navy veteran serving during WWII.  He was a member of the Central Church of Christ and American Legion Gillen Post 33.  He retired in 1989 as a printer operator for the Times Mail.

Survivors include his wife Barbara of Bedford; three daughters, Joy Prewitt and husband Glen, Jennifer Stapp and husband Scott, Jane George and husband Dave; one son, Joseph Freeman; five grandchildren, Kelly Stapp, Shannon Stapp, Ian Stapp, Megan George, and Keaton George; two great grandchildren, Ashley Stapp Matkovich and Tucker Stapp Matkovich.  He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Vera, Violet, Velma, and Virginia; and two brothers, Roy and Rex Freeman.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 28^th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day&Carter Mortuary with Pastor Rick Leach officiating.  Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 27^th at the Day&Carter Mortuary.
