Obituary of Kenneth Dean Kirkman

Bedford Kenneth Dean Kirkman, 60, of 103 Vista Dr., Oolitic, IN, passed away at 9:30 pm on Monday, September 3, 2007 at his residence following a lengthy illness. Born January 25, 1947, in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Elery and Maudie (Reynolds) Kirkman. He married Wanda Strunk on March 11, 1966 and she survives. He was a welder/millwright at GM Powertrain for thirty-eight years retiring in 2004. He was a member of the Tunnel Hill Pentecostal Church. He enjoyed many hobbies including doing handiwork, camping and coin collecting. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Surviving are his wife, Wanda of Oolitic; one daughter, Tammie Kirkman of Tampa, FL; two sons, Marty Kirkman and his wife, Heather of Oolitic, Jason Kirkman and his wife, Heidi of Chicago, IL; two granddaughters, Amanda and Erica Kirkman of Oolitic; three brothers, Tom Kirkman and his wife, Beth of Grand Rapids, MI, Charles Kirkman and his wife, Judy of Bedford and Elery Kirkman, Jr. and his wife, Warnetta of Oolitic; two sisters, Ruth Ann McKinney of Haines City, FL and Mary Riley and her husband, Phil of Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Margie Staggs; one brother, Paul Kirkman; one brother-in-law, Robert McKinney and one granddaughter, Jennifer Kirkman. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 7th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Bruce Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Hilltop Cemetery in Avoca. Friends may call from 3:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 6th and from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Friday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
