Although I didn't know Norma personally, I did know her integrity and ethics as a journalist. Norma was -- and is -- a lady of class and honor. She reported and let the reader decide. She reported the news that was fit to print and never printed the news to fit. I worked part time at WBIW before entering the Air Force in 1971. Please accept my deepest condolences on her passing. Her love for her pets as well as her family was evident to me at every visit...we laughed and cried together in the privacy of our visits over the years..Thanks for sharing your Mom with me..her freckles and mischief reminded me of my own Mom who passed when we were in high school. The Hutch's: I just wanna say how sorry I am about the death of Norma. Im always real sorry to hear about the passing of the good people I knew in my home town. I'll probably only come back one more time to that wonderful town but Ive never met anywhere better people than you all and Im sorry about this. Thanks Kent for being a teammate of mine in our younger years and Kathy for being a fellow fanatic of our sport and Kurt and Kevin and everyone. When Norma began her newspaper career, female reporters were few and far between especially on small town dailies like Bedford. Most women found themselves covering social news. But Norma did it all — covering city hall, the schools, car wrecks, crime, writing editorials and her File 13 column. She wasn't afraid of hard work or a challenge. If she was your friend, you really had a friend, a champion who stood beside you. Missing you Norm.
