Obituary of Kent Hammond

Bedford – Kent Hammond, 80, of Bedford, died at 12:06 am on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in Bedford.

Born September 11, 1937, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Oscar and Ilene (Robinson) Hammond. He married Sandra Anderson in 1956 and she survives. He was a Pyrotechnic Engineer for NSA Crane. He was a volunteer at the Boys Club for many years and attended the Free Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra, of Bedford; two sons, Greg Hammond and wife, Cheryl, Gary Hammond and wife, Susan, all of Bedford; three grandchildren, Evan Hammond and wife, Adrienne, of Gas City, IN, Eric Hammond and wife, Sarah, of Brownstown, Emily Spoonmore and husband, Justin, of El Puerto De Santa Maria, Spain; seven great grandchildren, Evan, Reece, Brody, Alexis, Treyton, Olivia, and Maddox; a brother, Wayne Hammond, of FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Barbara Medlock and Betty Arnold; a brother, Al Hammond.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 14^th at the Free Methodist Church. A private family committal will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, April 13^th and from 12:00 noon until the hour of service on Saturday at the Free Methodist Church.
