Sandra and Family:
We were devastated to hear of Kent's passing.
We have many wonderful memories of times we spent with "Uncle Jim" and you in Puerto Rico. All those projects Big Al and Uncle Jim used to help us with, the dinners and fun we had, and jokes we shared.
And on Friday nights if we couldn't track down Mom and Dad, we knew they were with you two. We are praying for you to find peace beyond all understanding. Kent wasn't a blood relative of ours, but he was family, as are you.

Dear Sandra, Greg, Gary and families,
We are so sad to hear of Kent's passing , but certainly know he is with our Savior. He was a wonderful example and we always enjoyed talking with him. Sandra, we go back a long way since that first day of first grade at the old Lincoln School on H Street. I came by your house this afternoon, but no one answered the door. I wanted to leave a cheese cake.
I am so sorry we will be unable to attend the calling and the funeral as we are going out of town tomorrow morning and will be gone until Sunday evening . Know you are all in our prayers. May you feel God's presence and comfort.

Words cannot express how much we love and appreciate the Hammond family. You befriended us the very first day we moved into the Bedford First Wesleyan Church parsonage. You encouraged us, supported us and took us under your wings. You became our family—our home away from home. Although I was your pastor, it was Kent who mentored me. I will always remember and treasure those “get out of the rut” nights. Even when we moved on from Bedford, your friendship endured and grew. When I was appointed to be the Senior Pastor of the Bedford Free Methodist Church, one of the biggest surprises and joys was to learn that you were attending the church. I got to be your pastor for another 12 years. And when we moved on to Michigan our friendship continued to deepen and thrive. What a joy it has been to see Greg and Gary grow to adulthood and establish their own families. We have and always will feel a special connection to them. Some of our fondest memories include: Traveling with you to the Smoky Mountains with our Teen Group; Hanging out with you in Florida; “Get out of the Rut” nights; Kent teaching me the delights of a New York strip steak simmering in bleu cheese. We are in Florida right now and unable to make it to Indiana for the funeral but my thoughts these past couple of days have returned again and again to Sandra, Greg, Gary and the rest of the family. I have prayed for you often and will continue to do that. So many places here in the Indian Rocks Beach area remind me of times we have had here with Kent and Sandra. They always bring a deep sense of joy and peace to my heart. Kent showed me what a thinking Christian looks like. He lived his life well. I know he is at peace with his Savior. That is what gives me peace.

To the family of Kent Hammond:
He was not only the best supervisor but also a great friend. He and I became friends in the late 60's & 70's during our times of involvement with the Bedford and Mitchell Little League programs. He and I both worked at N.W.S.C. Crane in the Research & Development Dept.
Kent will be missed by many. He always put his family ahead of everything.
Until we meet again my friend, I will miss you very much.
