Obituary of Homer C. Moore

Bedford-Homer C. Moore, 89, of Bedford died at 7:31 am on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at his residence. Born March 4, 1927 in Oolitic, he was the son of Anna and William Moore. He married Myra Joan “Jodie” Sears on August 29, 1952 and she preceded him in death on March 7, 2011. He was a graduate of Oolitic High School with the class of 1945, he attended Franklin College. Homer served honorably in the United States Army during WWII stationed in Japan. He retired from Ameritech as an engineer June 26, 1987 after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Oolitic Baptist Church., a lifetime member of the VFW, and a member of Telephone Pioneers of America. He was an avid fisherman and a founding member of Tri County Bass Anglers. Survivors include two sons, William Tyree (Stella) Moore of Bedford, Tod (Angie) Moore of Bloomington; a daughter Gina (Doyle) Owens of Granger, IN; 8 grandchildren, Jeremy (Heather) Moore, Kylee (Jason) Harding all of Bedford, Chris Moore and Katie Moore both of Bloomington, Codie (Chase) Taylor of South Bend, IN, Kyle Owens of Longwood, FL, Nick Bays of Cincinnati, OH, Bob (Chrystal) Bays of Bedford; 11 great grandchildren: Kennedy and Kadence Moore of Bedford, Chloe, Isabelle, and Eliza Harding of Bedford, Cameron and Madison Taylor of South Bend, Lily Owens of Longwood, FL, Skyyla Bays of Bedford, Terry Edelen of Bedford, Caleb Bays of Cincinnati, OH; two sisters, Sarah Bernice (Don) Myers of Bedford, Mary Helen (Don) Wever of Needmore, and several nieces and nephews who he cherished. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and William Moore, his wife Myra Joan (Jodie) Moore, infant daughter, Kathleen Moore, sister, Edith Blackburn, brother, Kenneth Moore, daughter-in-law Cassie Moore. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 11th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Richard Tallman and Pastor Don Myers officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamer Cemetery with military rites accorded by members of the American Legion Gillen Post #33. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 10th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Family and friends may express condolences at www.daycarter.com.
