Mom Martha was the sweetest lady I dearly missed. A very thoughtful and considerate person to be with. She always had a nice thing to say to everyone she knew. Never heard her criticized anyone. She was a wonderful, loving lady in every way. Her lovely/beautiful smile is a also thing to remember.. She left us with beautiful memories.
My deepest sympathy to her family especially to Wanda, who is wonderful herself. Wanda, my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of sorrow .

My dear Aunt Martha was one of those strong, independent women in my life who influenced her nieces and nephews with her service in and love of community, a role model with her connection to history and our ancestors and with her delight in relationships and verve for life. She showed us in a quiet, exemplary way how we all should live our lives. I have lived in Houston since 1965. This past November, when we came "home" for Thanksgiving, we took her to the Golden Corral for lunch. It seemed it took us hours to eat our lunch and eventually leave the restaurant because our lunch was constantly extended by those who came to our table to say "Hello" to Aunt Martha or the leave-taking was much longer because it was SHE who stopped at tables to visit and personally acknowledge each person she saw. It seemed as if she knew every-other person in Bedford. We honor her amazing legacy of love and service.
