I am a social worker who had contact with Bill through the years to help Veterans. He was exceptionally kind and always helpful. It was always clear that it was more than a job to him. Like many I grew up going to the Boys Club starting in the late 50's,I met many friends there,played basketball,pool,bingo,snooker and learned wood shop also. As a boy in the late 60's and early 70's. the Boy's Club was a second home for me. Bill was such a large part of my involvement there. He was so wonderfully supportive and served as an outstanding mentor for, not just me, but for countless others over the years. Bill, along with Bob Baugh, instilled invaluable traits like sportsmanship and teamwork, that I carry with me all these years later.

When you are 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, those were the words from Up High.
Personally, i was pretty well behaved so i knew he was shouting at others, so i could just enjoy his attempts to keeps things under SOME control. ;-)
I loved the Club, Loved being around him, as a member and while coaching.
Some of the best times and memories of my life.
Bill Baker was a wonderful care taker for us young lads.
As we grew older it was nothing but smiles, good teasing and laughter when i did get to see him in public. RIP good man, you made a difference.

I am so sorry for your loss and unfortunately I was traveling and unable to attend the service...he was like a second dad to me and I loved him dearly. He corrected me when I was wrong and congratulated me when I did well.

I remember being 12 or so and going to the boys club with my dad as he volunteered. Bill would sing "there she is miss America" at the top of his lungs.
