Obituary of David L. Franklin
Bedford David L. Franklin, 88, of Bedford, went to meet his Savior at 5:15 pm while a resident at Garden Villa in Bedford.
Born July 11, 1922, in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Harry and Mary Franklin. He married June England and she preceded him in death. David attended the Needmore school and was a graduate of the American High School. He was a veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Navy in the battle for Okinawa, Japan. He was a minister for local churches including Hilltop Pentecostal Church and pastor at the Newark Pentecostal Church of God in Greene Co. and Bethel Chapel in Defiance, OH. He retired from General Motors after thirty years as a salaried supervisor.
Survivors include a daughter, Joy (Franklin) New of Bedford; a son-in-law and guardian, Jerry Eads of Bedford; a daughter-in-law, Carol Sue (Childers) Franklin of Oolitic; a sister, Jonell Foddrill of Mitchell; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, June (England) Franklin; a daughter, Bridget (Franklin) Eads; a son, Jon David Franklin; a grandson, Jim Bob Franklin; three brothers, Maurice, Opal and Donald; a son-in-law, Mike New. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 13th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Wendell Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the Hilltop Cemetery in Avoca with military rites accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, November 12th and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday, November 13th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
