Obituary of Abraham Amstutz

Williams Abraham Abe Amstutz, 90, of State Road 450, Williams, went home to be with the Lord at 11:40 pm on Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Bedford. Born December 17, 1918 in Jennings Co., IN, he was the son of Christian and Ruth (Vanscoy) Amstutz. A graduate of North Vernon High School, he married Virginia Jenny Rose Ray on September 18, 1948 and she preceded him in death on April 28, 1995. He retired after twenty years with General Motors in Indianapolis. He then worked as a diamond sawyer and a night watchman at Indiana Limestone Mills. He operated the Abe and Sons Bait Shop in Williams for twenty years and transported tanks for Manchester Tank in Bedford. Abe was a veteran of WW II serving as a Sergeant with the U.S. Army at the Normandy beach invasion on D-day. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Williams and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, knitting fish nets, feeding his ducks and spending time with the grandkids. Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Davis and her husband, Rick of Bedford, Pamela Prairie and her husband, James of Williams and Cindy Stinson and her companion, Ross Guarneri of Springville; three sons, Christopher Amstutz and his wife, Sherry of Williams, Dennis Amstutz and his fiancee, Jana Mann, and Mike Amstutz and his wife, Roseanna all of Mitchell; a special family friend, Ronnie Henson of Bedford; fifteen grandchildren, Guy Amstutz and his wife, Julayne, Gary Amstutz and his wife, Kathy, Deanna Nusbaum and her husband, Mitch, Amy Watson and her husband, Rick, Danny Amstutz, Missy Amstutz and her fiance, Darin, Dusty Amstutz and his fiancee, Ashley, Lesley Perry, Brett Dillman and his wife, Jennifer, Ashley Amstutz, Jennifer Grider and her husband, Jim, Jessica Weber and her fiance, Michael, Jeffrey Weber, Jason Amstutz and his wife, Tonya, and Amanda Prairie; twenty-two great grandchildren, Christopher, Jayleigh, Makayla, Mikey, Hunter, Ricky, Tanner, Evan, Kyle, Tevin, Cody, Mariah, Chase, Ethan, Journie, Zaylie, Abby, Neil, Elijah, Donovan, Xavier and Roman; three sisters, Ann Gearries of North Vernon, Laura Davis and Maxine Shipley both of Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, John and Frank Amstutz; three sisters, Mary Pollock, Alice Pearson and Emma Amstutz; one great grandson, William Abraham. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, January 30th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Jeff Nikirk and Pastor Tom East officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Guy Amstutz, Gary Amstutz, Jason Amstutz, Danny Amstutz, Dusty Amstutz, Brett Dillman and Jeffrey Weber.
