Mrs. Vaughn always knew how to make us smile & laugh. She was my P.E. & Health teacher at Shoals High School. I am sorry for your loss, I know she will be sadly missed, but we can rejoice in the hope of seeing her in the afterlife, and that she is no longer suffering & is at peace. God bless all of you!

I met Roma when I came to Mitchell as junior high librarian. We were colleagues and friends, and we maintained the friendship in retirement until Roma was no longer able to join us "retired and tired" teachers at our luncheon get-togethers. She was a many-talented woman, wise and funny. I am blessed to have known her.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Mrs. Vaughan was at Shoals when I was in High School and I always had a great deal of respect for her. We were a very rowdy group and she handled it very well without knocking us over the head with a sledge hammer (which she probably should have done and we deserved it), and she even managed to teach us a great deal though we did not realize it at the time. It has probably been 20 years since I last saw her and spoke with her for awhile.
I especially remember she used to bring me left over meat loaf sandwichs for lunch when she had it. That is still my favorite sandwich and I always think of her kindness and our conversations.
May time and the good Lord quickly take away the pain and leave only the good memories,
Charlie Bill Keller, Class of 1970

Eric, Tom & Nora,
I was saddened to read about the death of your mother. Even though it has been far too many years since I have seen Roma or any of you, I have often had fond recollections of her from when we were all just teenagers at BHS. Eric, if you care to, get in touch with me sometime. I have many times wondered where life has taken you since those long ago times...
Once again, my thoughts are with you.
Take care, Bart

Mrs. Vaughn was the librarian at Mitchell High School when I was a senior. She was such a great person to know. Years later, she would come to the store where I worked and I would enjoy visits with her on those occasions. Always remember her smile and her great sense of humor. She will always be one of my favorite people. My deepest sympathies to her family. I know you will miss her. May God be with you and comfort your hearts. Debbie
