Obituary of Mary Jane Reuter
Springville Mary Jane Reuter, 73, of Springville, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at her home following a short illness, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born August 23, 1940 in Springville, the daughter of Clarence (Bud) and Alta Strunk. She was a graduate of Oolitic High School and after her children left the home for school, she entered the workforce, retiring as a North Lawrence Community Schools Title 1 Aide for twenty plus years. She was honored by NLCS for creating a learning techniques guide in which the Title 1 program uses with the children. Her hobbies were tending her flowers, decorating, crafts and taking long country drives. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for friends and family. Mary was a member of Order of Eastern Star. Mary was known for her sweet demeanor and compassion for others and touched the lives of many with her gift of joy shown through her constant and kind smile, her interests in others and her unconditional love and support. She was a true role model and a person who possessed the qualities we should all strive to imitate.
Mary married the love of her life, Ronnie Reuter, on May 29, 1969 and he survives. Other survivors include five children, Susan Wykoff and husband, Bob, of Bedford, Steve Reuter and wife, Cindy, of Blomberg, Germany, Kim Blackwell and husband, Scott, of Bedford, Kerry Reuter of Florida, and Donna Alexander and husband, Dan, of Bloomington; eleven grandchildren, Robin Siebe, Brandi Wykoff, Shalin Owen, Shelby Owen, Evan Blackwell, Stephanie Reuter, Tyler Blackwell, Miles Alexander, Coleman Alexander, Sebastian Reuter and Pascal Kern; four great grandchildren, Hayden Puckett, Carson Puckett, Eden Siebe and Ezra Siebe. She was the middle child of nine and her brothers and sisters are Pam Caudill, Wanda Kirkman, Sandi Colliflower, Lori Abel, Roy Strunk and Tom Strunk.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Alta Strunk, a sister. Lydia Spoonmore and a brother, Clovis Strunk. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 4th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Alan Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Lowder Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, January 3rd and from 12:00 noon until the hour of service on Saturday, January 4th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
