Obituary of David H. Rariden

Bedford David H. Rariden, 87, of Bedford, died at 10:33 am on Monday, July 25, 2005 at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Henry and Dorothy (Jones) Rariden. He married Josephine A. Miller on June 19, 1948 and she died on December 4, 1998. He was Chairman of Stone City Products, Graduate of Indiana University and Purdue University, WWII Veteran, Retired from the Air Force Reserve as a Lt. Col., three times awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash by three Indiana Governors, F & AM Lodge No. 14, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Murat Shrine Temple, Past President of La-Or-Ma Shrine Club, York Rite Mason, BPO Elks Bedford Lodge 826, American Legion Past Chairman of the Indiana Manufacturers Association, Board Member of Indiana Manufacturers Assoc., Board Member of IMA Serv., Past Board Member of the Precision Metalforming Assoc., Past Chairman of the General Advisory for Vocational Education for the North Lawrence School System, Past Chairman of the Bedford Board of Zoning Appeals, Past Chairman of Bedford Plan Commission, Past President of the Lawrence County United Way, Past President of the Bedford Chamber of Commerce, Charter Board Member of the Lawrence County Community Foundation, Hoosier Trails Council Boy Scouts of America Council Executive Board, President, President camp development committee member, Green Hill Cemetery Board Member, Dunn Hospital Board Member, Recipient of the Bedford Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award, Recipient of the Sam Walton Business Leader Award, Recipient of the Silver Beaver and the Silver Antelope Awards from the Boy Scouts of America, Recipient of the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award, First Recipient of the Manufacturers Service Award named in his honor from the Indiana Manufacturers Assoc. Surviving is one daughter, Marsha Rariden-Horsak and her husband, Cliff of Dallas, TX, one son, Stewart Rariden and his wife, Jane of Bedford, five grandchildren, Meredith Rariden of Minneapolis, MN, Maureen Rariden of Minneapolis, MN, Andrew Rariden of Bedford, Reilly Horsak of Dallas, TX, Elise Horsak of Dallas, TX and caregiver, Glenna Fairfield. He was preceded in death by parents and one brother, Phillip B. Rariden. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, July 29, 2005 at 1:30 pm at the St. Johns Episcopal Church with Father Charles Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday, July 28, 2005 at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
