Obituary of Wilbur E. Rainey
Williams Wilbur E. Bill Rainey, 75, of Williams, died at 8:43 pm on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at his residence.
Born June 7, 1933 in Martin Co., he was the son of Rufo and Eva Inez (Lindsey) Rainey. He married Linda Brown on June 4, 1955 and she survives. He was a mechanic and heavy equipment operator for Hancock Construction and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Old Union Christian Church. His passion was logging and his horses.
Survivors include his wife, Linda of Williams; one daughter, Becky Ashley and her husband, Denny of Williams; two sons, Jack Rainey and his wife, Sharon, Brad Rainey all of Williams; ten grandchildren, Jason Rainey and his wife, Alicia, Shannon Greenwell and her husband, Shayne, Amanda Sullivan and her husband, Brent, Sarah and Stephanie Ashley, Matthew Rainey and his wife, Crystal, Issac Rainey and his wife, Jennifer, Jessica Floerke and her husband, Jessie, Skylar and J.D. Ashley; eleven great grandchildren, Jack, Alivia, Mason, Grace, Garrett, Gibson, Nate, Nick, Abby, Travis and Robert; four sisters, Inez Goodman, Della Jones, Betty Jo Hood and Phyllis Mae Sturgis all of Bloomington. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Bob Rainey; two sisters, Sue Ellen Rainey and Mildred Sipes; one brother, Ralph Baker. Funeral Information
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 am on Saturday, March 7th at Old Union Cemetery with Aaron Levering officiating. Burial will follow. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, March 6th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of the Cecil Martin Post #250 American Legion.
