Obituary of Dorothy Ilene Quackenbush

Bedford Dorothy Ilene (Viers) Quackenbush, 85, of Bedford, died at 2:40 am on Friday, March 25, 2011 at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital. Born September 26, 1925 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of William Gardener and Sarah Elizabeth (Cook) Viers. She married Raleigh W. Quackenbush on December 20, 1951 and he preceded her in death on July 1, 1979. Dorothy was a stay at home mom who raised her three daughters. Later in life, she worked fourteen years at Hardees Restaurant. She was a people person who enjoyed life. She was a long-time member of the Central Church of Christ and her church family was very important to her. She will be remembered by her family as being loving and strong-willed. Survivors include three daughters, Patricia L. Norris and husband, Greg, of Anderson, IN, Elizabeth A. Cline and husband, Donal Gale of Chesterfield, IN and Carol L. Southern and husband, David, of Bedford; two sisters, Daisey Reynolds of Bedford and Jeannie Davis of Wabash, IN; a brother, Bill Viers and wife, Susie of North Vernon, IN. She was Grandma Bush to William (Erica) of Anderson, IN, Darian of Chesterfield, IN, Tyler (Leia) of Ft. Myers, Fl and Lindsey of Anderson, IN. She was Great Grandma Bush to Dru Dane, Dylan Raleigh and Jewel Elizabeth. Also surviving are several special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; three sisters, Juanita Bates, Marjie Hammond and Mildred Meadows. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, March 28th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Darrell Simon officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, March 27th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
