Obituary of Garrett R. Bartlett

Bedford Garrett R. Bartlett, 91, of Bedford, died at 5:48 pm on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at Garden Villa in Bedford. Born December 1, 1915 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Alonzo and Nettie (Starr) Bartlett. He married Oma D. Deckard on October 19, 1946 and she preceded him in death. He was a farmer, of the Apostolic Faith and attended the Donica Church of God. He was a veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Army. Survivors include one son, Meredith Winfred Deckard of Bedford; two grandchildren, Christie R. Maddox and her husband, Steve and Debra K. Smith and her husband, Marty; three great grandchildren, Ashli Lovell, Garrett Smith and Delanie Smith; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, six sisters, Betran Todd, Alpha Manzenberger, Kathalene Finley, Gertrude Donica, Madeline Turner and Josephine Bartlett (in infancy); two half-sisters, Lelia Fisher and Lettie Sowders. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 29th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Farrell Sowders officiating. Burial will follow in the Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Saturday, July 28th and from 12:00 noon until the hour of service on Sunday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
