Obituary of James W. Alexander

Bedford James W. Alexander, Jr., 67, of 123 Edgewood Drive, Bedford, died peacefully at his home surrounded by family on August 22, 2010. He was born October 28, 1942 to James W. Alexander, Sr. and Carol Marie (Walling) Alexander. He married Barbara Inman on July 14, 1965 and they just celebrated their 45th anniversary. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1962 and was eventually stationed at Crane, IN, where he worked until he retired in 1995. He was a member of the Gillen Post #33 American Legion where he served on the honor guard. He was a member of the Bedford Boat and Sportsmans Club and an inactive member with the Owensburg Masonic Lodge.He enjoyed many years of playing golf with his friends at Otis Park. Surviving with his wife, are two children, James W. Alexander, III and wife, Mirna of Fayetteville, NC and Debbie Roberts and husband, Matthew of Oolitic, IN; grandchildren, Jamie Lynn Alexander, Dawson Shawn Alexander Roberts and Jantzen Shawn Alexander Roberts; a sister, June Alexander of Arvada, CO; a brother-in-law, Phillip Inman and wife, Susan; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Blackburn and Cheryl Inman; nieces, Alexis Bushay, Blair Kimmel, Missi Capps, Mendy Emmanuel, Diana Fulk, Hope Ratliff; nephews, Taylor Inman and Ben Tubbs. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Judith (in infancy). Funeral Information A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 pm on Friday, August 27th in the Red Brick at Otis Park with Millard Jones officiating. Military rites will be accorded by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. A light meal will follow and all family and friends are welcome to attend. Donations Information The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the Thornton Memorial Boys Club or the Limestone Girls Club.
