Obituary of Daniel Ray Pierce

Avoca Daniel Ray Pierce, 65, of 225 Mitchell Street, Avoca, died at 10:25 pm on Sunday, September 4, 2011 at Westview Nursing and Rehab. Center in Bedford. Born November 22, 1945 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Edward Ray and Mary Alice (Turner) Pierce. He married Donna Sue Douglas on January 9, 1965 and she survives. He retired as a group leader after thirty-three years at RCA and was a custodian at Indiana University for eight years. Survivors include his wife, Donna Sue of Avoca; a daughter Christy Terry and husband, David of Bedford; a son, Bill Pierce of Bedford; grandchildren, Katie and Caroline Terry both of Bedford; two brothers, Larry Lake and wife, Karen of Fayetteville, Victor Pierce and wife, Linda of Springville; two sisters, Caroline Shackelford of Fayetteville, Elaine Shelton and husband, Dean of Seymour; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 8th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Fayetteville Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, September 7th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
