Obituary of Wanda Pershing

Bloomington, Wanda Pershing, 73, of 1503 Elliston Drive in Bloomington, formerly of Bedford, died at 10:50 am on Sunday, December 25th at the Bloomington Hospital. Born on February 10, 1932 in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Leathel J. and May (Mark) Hobson. She married Charles T. Pershing on June 9, 1950 and he survives. She was a homemaker and worked at Nathan Hale Gift Shop and H. & R. Block. Her hobbies were oil painting, painting bird house gourds, quilting, knitting, crossword puzzles, growing orchids and African violets, a cat lover and breeder and she enjoyed watching humming birds and feeding them. Wanda was an avid I.U. fan, and loved watching Tony Stewart and Tiger Woods. Surviving with the husband, Charles of Bloomington, are two daughters: Sheila Thompson and her husband, Jim of Columbus, Gwendolyn L. Pershing of Bloomington; two sons: C. Thomas Pershing and his wife, Dana of Alabama, Alan Pershing of Bloomington; five grandchildren: Jennie R. Thompson Griffin and her husband, Greg of Columbus; Kevin A. Thompson and his wife, Ronelle of Columbus; Michael C. Thompson of Columbus; Sarah M. Pershing and Katherine M. Pershing both of Alabama. Three great grandchildren: Jordan, Tyler and Kloe Thompson all of Columbus, IN; two brothers: Warren Hobson and his wife, Mildred of Mitchell, Ken Hobson and his wife, Mary of Illinois; one sister: Mary Jane Davison and her husband, Mike of Maryland; several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister: Wilma Lassen, brother-in-law, George Lassen, sister-in-law Marilyn Hobson and one great grandson: Joshua Thompson. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 28th, from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow at Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, Dec. 27th and from 1:00 pm until the hour of service on Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
