Obituary of Charles Payne

Martinsville Charles A. Payne, 82, of Martinsville, passed away at 5:50 pm on Monday, November 8, 2010 at the Grandview Health and Rehab. Nursing Home in Martinsville. Born June 13, 1928 in Channeyville, IL, he was the son of Ivan and Clara (Sharon) Payne. He married Alberta H. Smith and she preceded him in death. He was a maintenance worker for the Kennedy Living Center in Martinsville. Survivors include a sister, Marie Cook of Martinsville and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of thirty-three years, Alberta; two brothers, Thornton and Denver Payne; two sisters, Doris Payne and Eileen Ames; two half-brothers and four half-sisters. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 12th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Don Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Friday, November 12th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
