Obituary of Harold Padgett

Bedford Harold Padgett, 83, of 6722 Leatherwood Road, Bedford, died at 4:30 pm on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at the White River Lodge in Bedford. Born May 26, 1923 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Edward and Rowena (Fortner) Padgett. He married Geraldine Haws on May 2, 1944 and she survives. He was employed at the Robertson Feed Mill in Bedford for forty-five years and drove a school bus for Bedford North Lawrence Schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WW II. He was a member of the Leatherwood Christian Church over forty years where he served as a deacon and was a member of the Indiana Farm Bureau and the Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Surviving with his wife, Geraldine, is one son, Steven Joe Padgett of Bedford; two nieces, Melanie Haws Hacker and her husband, Joe of Bedford and Susan Haws Brennan and her husband, John of Moorsville; eight grandchildren, Christy Guernsy, Brandon Runkle, Samantha Bird, Nicholas, Jobie, and Carolyn Hacker, Matthew and Shelby Crane; one brother-in-law, Kenny Haws and his wife, Erma of Bedford; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Padgett of Mitchell and Becky Haws of Portage, OH; one aunt, Mabel Fortner of Bedford; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, one sister, Ruth Mitchell; three brothers, Harry (who was his twin), Paul and William. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 3rd at the Leatherwood Christian Church with Sherman Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Leatherwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, March 2nd at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 1:00 pm until the hour of service on Saturday at the church.
