Obituary of Dorothy M. Owens

Bedford Dorothy M. Owens, 83, of Bedford, died at 5:30 am on Monday, July 27, 2009 at Westview Nursing and Rebab. Center in Bedford. Born February 5, 1926 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Heber and Martha (Hillenburg) Sowders. She retired from Kirlins Hallmark Store. Survivors include one daughter, Beth Gilman and husband, David of Florida; one son, Michael Owens of Bedford; four grandchildren, Ashley, Austin and Kyle Gilman, Kelly Long; one sister, Marcella Turner of Oolitic; one brother, Heber Sowders, Jr. of Oolitic; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Judy Sowders and Peggy Bush and one brother, James Sowders. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 31st from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Reggie Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Friday, July 31st at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
