Obituary of Bernice Norman

Bedford Bernice M. Norman, 98, of Bedford, passed away in her sleep at 4:50 am on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at the White River Lodge in Bedford. Born October 9, 1909 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Alvin and Ida May (Kindred) Cummings. She married Clifford Norman on June 11, 1927 and he preceded her in death on December 6, 1978. She was a homemaker and a member of the Hillcrest Christian Church in Bedford. Survivors include one son, Morris Norman and his wife, Jeanette of Bedford; one daughter, Oweetah Blackburn of Greenwood, IN; five grandchildren, Brett Norman, Rhonda Whitehead, Diedra Wykoff, Ty Blackburn and Terri Hoover; nine great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; her parents, a son-in-law, Howard Blackburn; a great grandson, Parker Whitehead; seven brothers, Roy Cummings, Rollie Cummings, Alfred Cummings, Jim Clampitt, Orville Cummings, Harry Cummings and Charles Cummings; and one sister, Mae Johnson. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, January 18th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Charlie Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 17th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
