Obituary of Russell D. Nikirk
Bedford Russell D. Nikirk, 66, of Bedford, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at his residence.
Born May 27, 1948 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of David and Margaret (Moore) Nikirk. He married Loyce Rainey and she preceded him in death. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and was a former member of the Indiana National Guard. He retired as an electrical engineer from NWSC Crane and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Ginger Nikirk and companion, Adam Bradley of Bloomington; two brothers, Reggie Nikirk and wife, Rebecca, Randy Nirkirk and wife, Trena, all of Bedford; three sisters, Carolyn Nikirk of Bedford, Patty Johnson and husband, Chuck of Oolitic Barbara Cobb and husband, Claude, of Mooresville; two brothers-in-law, Fred Rainey and wife, Susie and Gilbert Rainey, all of Bloomington; three sisters-in-law, Sharon Chandler and husband, Larry of Bloomington, Rebecca Stanger of Solsberry and Evelyn Prince and husband, Tim, of Springville; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister, Judith Sue Brummett and a brother, Ronald Nikirk. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 13th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Owensburg Cemetery with military rites accorded at the graveside. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 12th and from 12:00 noon until the hour of service on Friday, June 13th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. A masonic service will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Thursday.
