Obituary of Donald K. New

Oolitic Donald K. New, 77, of 705 Lafayette Ave., Oolitic, died at 4:36 pm on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford. Born July 16, 1933 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of James and Fannie (Harvey) New. He married June Fowler on June 26, 1954 and she survives. He retired from Indiana Limestone Co. He was a fifty year member of the Masonic Lodge where he held various positions and was one of the founders of the Patriot Lodge #750 F & AM of Oolitic. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis and York Rite, Bartimaeus Lodge and Eastern Star. Surviving with his wife, June, are a son, Tim New and wife, Patty, of Oolitic; a daughter, Lisa Sanders and husband, Jerry, of Martinsville; a daughter-in-law, Lisa New of Greenwood; ten grandchildren, Jeremy, Zachary, Brady and Rose New, Caleb, Riley and Seth New, Joel, Jared and Hannah Sanders; one great grandchild, Gracie New; two brothers, Bob New of Oolitic and Jim Junebug New of Bedford; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Jim New and a brother, Ted New. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 28th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Richard Tallman officiating. Burial will follow in the Hilltop Cemetery in Avoca. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, August 27th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:30 pm on Friday.
