Obituary of Magdalene New

Bedford Magdalene New, 84, of Bedford, died at 1:58 pm on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at her residence. Born June 20, 1927 in Flossie, KY, she was the daughter of Harley Virgle and Myra (Staley) New. She married Noble New on June 14, 1961 and he preceded her in death on September 11, 2006. She was a homemaker and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include two sons, William J. Silvers and wife, Mamie of Bedford and L. B. Silvers and wife, Thelma of Orleans., IN; a step-son, Phillip New and wife, Linda of Bedford; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Silvers of Ft. Wayne; sisters, Mary Smoot of Oolitic, Pauline Hammond of Ohio, Duetta Merritt, Betty Prather and Kathy Morrow all of KY; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Noble; two sons, Jerry Silvers and Don Silvers; two brothers, Ray and Ronnie New two sisters, Hazel Branscum and Ruby Jean Cassada. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 21st in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Beech Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, April 20th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
