Obituary of Vada Hawkins

Bedford- Vada Bud Hawkins, 90, of The Bliss House in Bedford, died on Friday, August 12, 2005 at his residence. Born March 12, 1915 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Vada Q. and Nellie (McPike) Hawkins. He married Virginia Parham August 24, 1935 and she preceded him in death. He was a retired electrician from General Motors in Bedford. He was a member of Central Church of Christ, Stone City Squares and Rounds Club, Retired IBEW and American Legion Gillen Post #33. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. Surviving are two daughters: Betty Brown of Bedford and Nancy Janie Lyons of Springville; one brother-in-law: Gene Parham of Bedford; one brother: Jack Hawkins of Texas; five grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, five sisters: Thelma, Ruby Nell, Ruth Marie, Martha June and Mary Campbell; three brothers: Joe, Robert and Raymond Hawkins. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 16th, from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Darrell Simon officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens with military rites accorded at the grave by the American Legion Gillen Post #33. Friends may call from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, August 15th and from 10:00 am on Tuesday until the hour of service at the Day & Carter Mortuary. View Video Tribute
