Obituary of Myra Joan Moore

Bedford Myra Joan (Jodie) Moore, 81, of 1523 1st Street, Bedford, died at 2:26 pm on Monday, March 7, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Bloomington. Born January 5, 1930 in Bedford, she was the daughter of Nelson and Mary (Dilly) Sears. She married Homer C. Moore on August 29, 1952 and he survives. She was a homemaker and swimming instructor for the Red Cross for twenty years. She managed city pools for several years and volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Bedford Medical Center Auxiliary. She was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and enjoyed playing cards, reading, spending time with family and friends. She was an avid I.U. Basketball and Indianapolis Colts fan. Survivors include her husband, Homer, of Bedford; two sons, William Tyree Moore and wife, Stella of Bedford, Tod Moore and wife, Angie of Bloomington; a daughter, Gina Owens and husband, Doyle of Granger, IN; grandchildren, Jeremy (Heather) Moore, Kylee (Jason) Harding all of Bedford, Chris Moore and Katie Moore both of Bloomington, Codie (Chase) Taylor of South Bend, IN, Kyle Owens of Longwood, FL; step-grandsons, Nicholas Bays of Monroe, OH, Bob (Crystal) Bays of Bedford; nine great grandchildren; a brother, David Sears and wife, Linda of Littleton, CO; two sisters, Mary Merrell of Greenwood, Nancy Wilson and husband, Jim of Estero, FL; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Cathleen (in infancy). Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Friday, March 11th at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father Rick Eldred officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8;00 pm on Thursday, March 10th at the Day & Carter Mortuary where a rosary service will be conducted at 7:30 pm.
