Obituary of Rebecca Ann Mitchell
Bedford Rebecca Ann Mitchell, 78, of Bedford, went home to be with the Lord at 5:00 am on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Westview Manor Nursing & Rehab.
Born February 2, 1933 in Fort Ritner, she was the daughter of Hugh Mac and Neva Blanche (Matthew) Jean. She married Clyde Mitchell on June 24, 1951 and he survives. Rebecca was a homemaker and Office Manager for Edgewood Clinic for 15 years. She was a member of Bedford First United Methodist Church and had attended Leesville United Methodist Church, Roadside Council, and a 4-H Leader with Leesville Ridge Runners. She was a devoted wife mother, grandmother and friend, fabulous cook and a big basketball fan.
Surviving with her husband, Clyde is one son; Clyde G. Mitchell, III and wife Gye of South Carolina; two daughters: Polly J. Brewer and husband Bill of Florida and Annie L. Kent and husband Don of Bloomington, IN, nine grandchildren; Hillary Mitchell, Madison Mitchell, Alexis Mitchell, Bryce Kent, Kendall Kent, Kelsey Kent, Stephen Brewer, Matthew Brewer and Emily Brewer, nieces and nephews; Michael Hubrecht, Maurice Hubrecht, Charles Hubrecht, Susie Andrews, Steve Andrews, Bill Andrews, Molly Erspan, Roger Erspan, Jim and Tom Gerkin. Rebecca was preceded in death by three sisters: Francis Gerkin, Helen Marie, and Mary Ellen Boyles and one brother: Hugh Franklin Jean, two nephews; Victor and Louis Hubrecht. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 19, 2011 from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Beth Ann Cook officiating. Burial will follow in the Cavetown Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 pm -8:00 pm on Friday, February 18th at the mortuary.
