Obituary of Warren Pace Mitchell

Bedford Warren Pace Mitchell, 90, of Bedford, died at 1:57 am on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital. Born February 12, 1921, in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Samuel O. and Lola (Pace) Mitchell. He married Harriet Drake in 1942 and she died in 2003. He retired as a Science teacher at Bedford Junior High School and had taught vocational agriculture at Shawswick. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving during WW II. He was a Purdue University Agriculture Alumni, a member of the New Union Christian Church, Bedford Lodge #14 F & AM, Order of the Eastern Star where he served as past Worthy Grand Patron, past Lawrence Co. 4-H Fair board member and former 4-H leader. Survivors include four children, Patricia Gramling and husband, John C. of Ashley, IN, Lola Jean Kozak and husband, Stanley F. Kozuch of Bedford, Thomas Warren Mitchell and wife, Donna of Somerset, IN, Mary Kathryn Myers and husband, Mark of Bedford; six grandchildren, Byron Gramling and wife, Cheryl, Katharine Gramling all of Ashley, IN, Eliza Jane Gramling of Nashville, TN, Samuel Bradley Mitchell and wife, Amy of Southport, Dennis Earl and wife, Donna of Noblesville, Lorraine Grisham and husband, Matthew of Las Vegas; two great grandchildren, Thomas Warren Mitchell and Samantha Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Thursday, March 3rd in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Beth Ann Cook officiating. Military rites will be accorded after the service. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 2nd at the Day & Carter Mortuary where an Eastern Star service will be conducted. Honorary pallbearers are Byron Gramling, Samuel Mitchell, Dennis Mitchell, John C. Gramling, Stanley Kozuch and Mark Myers.
