Obituary of Robert M. Mitchell

Bedford-Robert M. Bob Mitchell, 79, of Bedford died Saturday, June 13, 2009 at his residence. Born July 17, 1929 in Bedford he was the son of Harlin and Mary Edna (Smith) Mitchell. He married Hilda R. Miller on October 16, 1949 and she preceded him in death. He was a retired builder. He was the first president of the Nite Owls camping club, former president of the Bedford Home Builders Association, active in the Lawrence County Republican Party, and a supporter of the Boys Club. Survivors include one daughter: Connie Diaz and her husband Walt of Indianapolis; one grandson: Mitch Diaz of Indianapolis; three step grandchildren: Sara Diaz Darosa of Denver, CO, Andrew Diaz of Phoenix, AZ, and Tammy Hart of Knoxville, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two sisters: Mona Merry and Irene Oliver. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 17th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 16th and from 10:00 A.M. until the service hour on Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
