Obituary of L. Carl Mitchell

Bedford L. Carl Mitchell, 90, of 1726 Windwood Dr., Bedford, died at 5:00 am on Thursday, February 6, 2003 at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born September 6, 1912 in Greene Co., IN, he was the son of Bert and Mary (Hamilton) Mitchell. He married B. Berniece Sears in 1935 and she preceded him in death on July 18, 1999. He was a retired farmer in Homer, Illinois. Survivors include three grandchildren, Kimberly Mitchell of Winnetka, CA; JoAnna Chun of Yuma, AZ and Carl Mitchell of Morenci, AZ; six great grandchildren; one brother, Ervin Mitchell of Fayetteville, IN; one sister, Zora Lackey of Bedford, IN; one daughter-in-law, Diana Mitchell of Louisiana and several nieces and nephews including Gaye Fitzgerald (who was his caregiver) and her husband, Eddie, of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, Larry Gale Mitchell; five brothers, Oral, Charles, Merle, Leo and Romia Mitchell and two sisters, Dorothia Hardgrove and Mertle Mitchell . Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Saturday, February 8th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Friends may call from 5:00 pm until the hour of service on Saturday at the mortuary. A graveside committal service will be conducted at 10:30 am on Sunday, February 9th at the G A R Cemetery in Homer, Illinois.
