Obituary of Russellena Mellinger

Bedford-Russellena Bobbie Mellinger 78, of Bedford, died at 12:55 pm on Friday, May 4, 2007 at the Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo. Born August 3, 1928 in Orleans, she was the daughter of Russell and Esther (Fields) Dawson. She married William R. Dutch Mellinger on August 15, 1947 and he preceded her in death on July 17, 2000. She had worked for Elder Beermans in Dayton, Ohio, the Bloomington BMV, and also the Bloomington airport. She was a member and deaconess of the First Presbyterian Church in Bedford, a Pink Lady volunteer at Dunn Memorial Hospital, a member of the American Legion Gillen Post # 33 Ladies Auxiliary, the Elks Lodge #14, and the Bedford Boat and Sportsman Club. She was also an avid Bobby Knight and IU Basketball fan. Surviving are two sons Jack L. Mellinger and his wife Lisa of Kokomo, and William R. Mellinger and his wife Janie of Dayton, Ohio; three grandchildren Kelly Williams and husband Scott of Greentown, IN, Mandy Mellinger of Noblesville, IN and Matthew Mellinger of Dayton, OH; two Great Grandchildren Spencer & Lola Williams of Greentown; special companion Harvey (Cocky) Holmes of Bedford; and a dear friend of the family Susie Berwick. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister Helen Jackie Dawson Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday, May 9th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Mark McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 pm on Tuesday, May 8th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
