Obituary of Phillip L. Hert

Bedford Phillip L. Hert, 64, of Bedford, died at 3:00 pm on Monday, September 10, 2012 at his residence. Born February 21, 1948 in Bedford, he was the son of Chester Wayne and Vaunda R. (Canada) Hert. He married Jennifer K. Bowden on May 18, 1974 and she survives. He retired from the Bedford Fire Department in 1995. He drove a bus for North Lawrence Community Schools, Indiana University and Bedford TASC. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church and Bedford Noon Lions Club. Phil had a passion for his family, grandchildren, racing and Indiana basketball. Survivors include his wife, Jennifer, of Bedford; two daughters, Sarah Hall and husband, Brian of Virginia Beach, VA, Allison Moore and husband, Jed of Bedford; a son, Stephen Hert of Bedford; five grandchildren, Garrett and Hannah Hall, Brody, Bricton and Brenzlie Moore; his mother-in-law, Catherine Bowden of Bedford; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Erroll Wayne and Charles Earl Hert. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, September 14th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastors John Lane and David Colgan officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 13th and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Friday, September 14th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
