Obituary of Joanne May

Born in Martin County, IN on December 13, 1930, she was the daughter of Marlin Hert and Nellie (Crane) Hert. She married James W. May on March 2, 1951 and he survives. She was a Librarian for several years at the Oolitic High School. She had been a Pink Lady at the Dunn Memorial Hospital. A member of Avoca Baptist Church, she was active in the Womens Missionary Circle and the Library Committee. She enjoyed the church nursery. Surviving with her husband, James, are three sons: Steve May and his wife, Patty of Springville; Alan May and his wife, Karen of Springville and Tom May of Springville, one daughter: Rachel May of Bedford; five grandchildren: Paul May, Amy May, Brandy May, Tony May, and Ethan May; two sisters: Luella Pearson of Springville and Kathaleen Mitchell and her husband, Charles of Edinburgh. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother: Nolan Hert in 1983 and one brother-in-law: Worth Pearson. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 28th in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Kyle Witmer. Burial will follow in the Springville Christian Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday, January 27th from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Day & Carter Mortuary.
