Obituary of Susan Irene May

Bedford Susan Irene May, 65, of Bedford, died at 7:35 pm on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital. Born October 15, 1948 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of John and Hazel Ruth Smithers. She married Roger L. May, Sr. on January 28, 1967 and he survives. She retired as an assembly line worker at RCA and was formerly secretary for Crossroads Community Church. She was a member of the Bunco Club and of the Christian faith. Survivors include her husband, Roger, of Bedford; a daughter, Chrissy Jones and husband, Eric of Mitchell; a son, Roger L. Bud May, Jr. of Springville; four grandchildren, Adara Edwards and husband, Jake of Hawaii, Kayla Burgi and husband, A.J. of North Carolina, Alisha Jones of Mitchell, Haley May of Springville; three great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ruth Loving of Florida; one brother, John Smithers of Fayetteville; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Jerry and Jimmy Smithers and a daughter, Hazel Ruth. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, January 30th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Phil Thorne officiating. Burial will follow in Fayetteville Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 29th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
