Obituary of Doris Maxine Martin

Bedford Doris Maxine Martin, 81, a resident of the StoneBridge Health Campus, formerly of 902 Walnut Street, Oolitic, died at 1:25 pm on Sunday, September 24, 2006. Born February 14, 1925 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Claude and Nellie (Blake) Parker. She married William M. Martin on August 31, 1940 and he preceded her in death on January 20, 1999. She had worked on the assembly line at Sarkes-Tarzian Inc., for several years and was a homemaker. She was of the Christian faith. During the last seventeen months of her life, Doris resided at the StoneBridge Health Campus. There she developed and enjoyed many friendships. She looked forward to the many activities provided daily, including the picnics and mini bus trips such as the one that took her on her first fishing trip. Survivors include one daughter, Rose Ellen Martin Gregory and her husband, David E. Gregory of Bedford; four grandchildren, Terri Gregory Belcher and her husband, Robert Belcher, David Alan Gregory all of Bedford, Michael Wayne Gregory and his wife, Nicole Gregory of Millington, TN and Lisa Ramsay Dalton (who was raised in the Martin home) and her husband, Mike Dalton of Oolitic; great grandchildren, Hannah Gregory, Madison Gregory, Clayton Gregory, Brad Childers, Mike Dalton and Josh Dalton; two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Linda Martin Ramsay; two sisters, Lucille Lake and Helen Hazel; three brothers, Cecil, Kenneth and Claude Parker, Jr. and a nephew, Ray Parker who was raised in the Parker home as a brother. Funeral Information Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 26th at Green Hill Cemetery with Pat Blyeth officiating. No calling hours are scheduled. Arrangements are under the direction of the Day & Carter Mortuary.
