Bedford – Norma J. Gilstrap, 97, of Bedford, passed away at 1:45 am, on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Stonebridge Health Campus.

Born January 15, 1927, in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Oran B. and Gladys L. (Nelson) Chapman. She married William C. “Bill” Gilstrap on April 19, 1947, and he preceded her in death on December 6, 2012. She had been a beautician for 25 years. She was a member of the Central Church of Christ for 50 years and the Order of the Eastern Star for 25 years.

Survivors include three daughters, Gaylene (Daniel) Layton, of Greencastle, IN, Jo Ellen (Kevin) Brinegar, of Heltonville, and Sondra (Richard) Blaschke, of Bedford; five grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, James N. Chapman.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, November 5th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Rick Leach officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the hour of service on Tuesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
