Bedford – Charles “Charlie” East, 77, of Bedford, passed away at 8:10 am on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Evergreen Assisted Living in Bloomington.

Born July 27, 1947, in Perry Co., IN, he was the son of Albert and Hazel (Birkla) East. He married Sherry Sue Phillips and she preceded him in death on September 23, 2014. He retired as the general manager and salesman at Bedford Ford.

Survivors include a son, Charles P. East of Bloomington; two daughters, Rhonda Kirk and husband, Gary, of Mitchell and Susan Roberts, of Bloomington; seven grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter, Tammy Jo East (in infancy); a brother, Clarence East; a half-brother, Nolan Birkla; a sister, Anna Belle Pirvis.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, October 22nd at Hanson Cemetery with Tim Voorhies officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm on Tuesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Family and friends may express condolences at www.daycarter.com.
