Bedford – Gloria D. Poole, 85, of Bedford, passed away at 10:47 pm on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at I.U. Health Hospice House in Bloomington.

Born February 8, 1939, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Jessie D. and Zena Mae (Rogers) Ray. She married Allen Poole on December 10, 1955, and he preceded her in death on July 31, 1993. She retired from Thomson Consumer Electronics in 1999 and was a member of the East Oolitic Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Robert “Rob” A. (Chris) Poole, of Springville, Bruce D. (Sheila) Poole and Leslie E. Poole, both of Bedford; six grandchildren, Jenny (Lou) Stephenson, Angie (Danny) Phillips, Amy (Daniel) Walls, Mandy (Jay R.) Robinson, Jared (Jodi) Poole, and Jessica Norris; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Teresa L. Norris; two grandsons, Joshua and Jason Poole; a great-granddaughter, Hannah Phillips; three brothers, William E. “Bill” Ray and Harold F. “Poss” Ray, and Roger D. “Teako” Ray; three sisters, Helen Hupp, Juanita Reuter, and Loretta Eads.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Friday, October 18th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Millard Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Hopkins Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, October 17th and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Friday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
