Obituary of Mark Alan Spreen

Williams – Mark Alan Spreen, 75, of Williams, passed away at 12:20 pm, on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at I.U. Health Hospice House in Bloomington. Born January 7, 1949, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Harold and Rachel (Cessna) Spreen. He was a graduate of Bedford High School and received his bachelors degree from Indiana University. He was a manager and dispatcher for Spreen & Sons Trucking, owner of Mark’s BBQ and catering, and an avid BNL Basketball fan. He had been a teacher at Bedford High School and bus driver for Bedford North Lawrence School Corporation. He managed Farm Bureau Co-op., and was a member of the Williams Church of Christ, and Bedford Masonic Lodge #14 F & AM. He was a former board member of the Williams Community Improvement Assoc. and a member of the Lawrence County 4-H board. Survivors include four children, Tim Spreen and wife, Melissa, of Bedford, Alan Spreen, of Williams, Teressa Amburgey and husband, Rich, and Trevor Spreen, all of Bedford; seven grandchildren, Emilee, Richie, Carter, Carsyn, Evan, Clayton, and Sutten; four great-grandchildren; his mother, Rachel, of Williams; three brothers, Mike Spreen and wife, Karen, Bill Spreen and wife, Kristi, and Tom Spreen and wife, Tangie, all of Williams; a sister, Becky Pinnick and husband, David, of Williams; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and a niece, Claire. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Monday, September 9th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Steve Warren officiating. Burial will follow in the Williams Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, September 8th and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Monday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.A Masonic Service will be conducted at 6:00 pm on Sunday by members of Bedford Lodge #14 F & AM.
