Obituary of E. Sharon Woody

Sharon (Bruner) Woody, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully July 26, 2024. Born on July 22, 1941, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Sharon was the cherished daughter of William and Kathleen (Arick) Johnson, both of whom preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Michael Bruner, with whom she was married for 41 years. They raised three children together. Sharon is survived by her husband Jim Woody to whom she was married for 16 years and his daughter, Robin (Woody) Armstrong (husband Kent Armstrong). Sharon is survived by her three children: Michael Bruner (wife Shelly Bruner), Shelley (Bruner) Spurgeon (husband Dan Spurgeon), and Mark Bruner (wife Kelli Bruner). Her legacy continues through her adored grandchildren: Jared Bruner (fiancée Megan), Kylie (Bruner) Guerra (husband Gabe), Kennedy (Bruner) Cronin (husband Liam Cronin), Jori Bruner, Jordan Spurgeon, Alexis Spurgeon, Luke Spurgeon, and Gabby Spurgeon. Sharon's love also extended to her great-grandchildren, Bohen Cronin and Lucy Guerra, who brought her immense joy and pride. Sharon's life was a testament to her unwavering dedication to her family. She will be remembered for her boundless love, gentle spirit, and the warmth she brought into the lives of those who knew her. Her memory will forever be cherished by her family and friends. She was an active member of the Bedford Bridge Club and enjoyed the friendships she made there. Upon moving to Owensburg, she enjoyed collecting antiques. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 am on Friday, August 2nd in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Dan Spurgeon officiating. Private graveside services will follow in the Owensburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Friday at the mortuary.
