Obituary of H. Dale Maddox

Guthrie H. Dale Maddox, 82, of 116 Lemon Quarry Road, went home to be with his Heavenly Father at 3:50 am on Monday, April 13, 2009 at Garden Villa in Bedford with his family beside him. Born May 10, 1926 in Guthrie, he was the son of Cletus and Lessie (Hardin) Maddox. He married Mildred Lemon on May 13, 1950 and she survives. Dale retired from farming in the Guthrie Community. He farmed with his brother, Ben they enjoyed farming many years together. He was a member of the Valley Mission Church of the Nazarene and a WW II veteran serving as a Corporal in the 706th Army Air Force. Dales life revolved around his commitment to his church, the love of his family and friends, his passion for farming and his hobbies, fishing and singing. Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Mildred; one daughter, Rachel (Maddox) Deckard who married Joe Deckard; two sons, Stephen Maddox who married Glenda Hayes and Bill Maddox who married Pamela Donica all of the Guthrie community; five grandchildren, Needra Basinger, Stephanie Clark, Dustin Maddox, Shelby and Billy Maddox; six great grandchildren, Alex and Nick Basinger, Bransyn Maddox/Henson, Presley and Chesney Clark and Shalyn Dale Maddox; several nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law, Esta, Loretta and Glenda Maddox all of Guthrie Road. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Richard, Harry, Ray, Roy, Gene and Ben Maddox. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 16th at the Valley Mission Church of the Nazarene in Judah with Pastor Duane Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Clover Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg where military rites will be accorded by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, April 15th and from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Thursday, April 16th all at the Valley Mission Church of the Nazarene. Pallbearers are Stephen Maddox, Bill Maddox, Joe Deckard, Billy Maddox, Dustin Maddox and Ted Maddox. The family would especially like to extend heartfelt Thanks to the staff & residents of Garden Villa who comforted and cared for Dale.
