Obituary of Thomas Dewey Phillips

Springville – Thomas Dewey Phillips, 77, of Springville, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at his residence. Born July 13, 1946, in Delta, Kentucky, he was the son of Ozie and Elvena Phillips. He married Sheila Terry on October 28, 1966, and she survives. He retired from Evans Quarry and was a member of the Grace Baptist Church. He loved gardening, selling his prized tomatoes at the local farmer’s market. Survivors include his wife, Sheila, of Springville; children, Thomas Phillips, Jr. and wife, Mary, of Heltonville, Jane Phillips, of Evansville, Aaron Phillips and wife, Kirsten, of Greenwood; twelve grandchildren, Treyton, Alivia, Aliyah, Max, James, Ozie, Osburn, Charlotte, Alexandra, Ottis, Arianna, and Shepherd; a great-grandson, Gatlin; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; siblings, Stanley Phillips and wife, Linda, Ina Gene Hatley-Gedek, Andrew Phillips and wife, Patty, Clarie Cassada and husband, Ron, David Phillips and wife, Mary, and Beulah Martin and husband, Curtis. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jackie, Glen, and Shirley; his beloved dogs, Beagle I and Beagle II;. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 16th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rusty Burnette, Bob Phillips, and Richard Tallman officiating. Burial will follow in the Springville Christian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, March 15th and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
