Michael D. Cummings, 73, of Shoals, passed away at his residence on March 1, 2024.

Born September 16, 1950, in Bedford, he was the son of Jack Dean and Mary Rose (Johnson) Cummings. Mike married Kathryn Pennington and she survives. He retired from General Motors. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, where he was a past state president, and was an officer of Grand Aerie.

Survivors include his wife Kathryn Cummings of Shoals; five children, Brad Cummings and wife Carol of Bedford, Jamie Cummings and wife Lori of Bedford, Matt Cummings and wife Becky of Bedford, Kristi Steinhart and husband Mike of Shoals, Robbie Pennington of Washington; fifteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one brother, Terry Cummings of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 6th at the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Mike Schlaegel officiating. Burial will follow in Springville West Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday, March 5th at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 11:00 am until service time on Wednesday, March 6th.
