Obituary of Stephen Cole

Stephen Cole, 71, of Bedford, passed away on February 17, 2024, at his residence. Born September 10, 1952, in Bedford, he was the son of Willy and Mallie (Ashley) Cole. He married Marian Ellen Bridwell, and she preceded him in death on December 12, 1998. Steve retired from Brunner Engineering in Bedford and was a member of the Outdoor Sportsmen Club of Mitchell. Steve was a man of very few words, but such a fierce protector of his family. Survivors include one daughter, Susan Cole of Bedford; one stepdaughter, Kelly Baxter of Bedford; one stepson, Chris Ryan of Bedford; one step-granddaughter, Kennedy Baxter; two sisters, Geneva Hardin, and Mary Salmon; one brother, Dave Cole; and Steve’s partner, Donna Elkins. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, Steven Cole, four sisters, Mildred Smith, Violet Bohart, Mallie Blanton, Margaret Tarr, and one brother, Bob Cole. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00pm on Tuesday, February 20th at Green Hill Cemetery. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Southern Care Hospice.
