Obituary of Marilyn J. Baker

Marilyn J. Baker, 89, of Springville, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Westview Rehabilitation Center. Born December 3, 1934, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Opal and Lucille (Parker) Lake. She married Gerald Baker on November 23, 1956, and he preceded her in death on November 25, 2003. Marilyn was a 4-H leader for over twenty-five years and was a member of the Hoosier Hills Doll Club and the Early Birds Homemakers Club. She loved to make cakes and cookies for her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Lynn Baker-McNeely and husband Tony of Mitchell; two sons, Mark Kevin Baker and wife Kim, and Jon Stevin Baker and wife Pam all of Springville; eleven grandchildren; Crystal Rayhill-Carmen and husband Michael, Cory Rayhill and wife Bethany, Craig Rayhill and wife Anna, Christanna Rayhill-McNeely, Brett Baker and wife Britney, Jamie Phillips and husband Chad, Stacey Brown and husband Kyle, Stephanie Baker, Denver and Matthew McNeely; 22 great grandchildren; Cydnee, Chloe, Cevanna, Carsyn, Leighton, Kensington, Eleanor, Charlie, Chance, Cheyenne, Brentlea, Jaxsen, Fynley, Grant, Sophie, Lauren, Braxton, Averie, Madison, Gabby, Macy and Ruger; six sisters, Evelyn Morgan, Pam Lake, Kathy Terry, Karen Speer, Theresa McGuire, Paula Briner; and one brother, Jerry Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a granddaughter, Cristen Rayhill, and siblings, Ruby Swartz, Bob Lake, Gene Lake, Kay Lake (in infancy) and Debbie Lake (in infancy). Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, January 26th at 12 noon in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Roger Allen officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Friday at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow at Hilltop Pentecostal Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Springville Gym Restoration Fund or the Lawrence County 4-H Endowment.
